The Generation 4 (Starter Handpan) Series
The Generation 4 has evolved from several previous models over the years, continuing to develop an increased coverage and control of notes, frequencies, and recently, colors. As it is our most affordable handpan, many beginner players, and first-time or budget buyers opt for a Generation 4. Despite such a favorable price, our Generation 4 Handpans still offer the greatest versatility of sound techniques (harmonics and pitch bends as well as all of the fundamental notes and percussive elements) and colors that you'll find from any other handpan store's range of handpans.
Pricing
We have been strongly against the price exploitation of handpans since the beginning when obtaining a handpan meant paying over $3000 upfront, waiting 6+ months to receive them, and having very limited options of returning or retuning your handpan. NovaPans to date has sold over 5000 handpans worldwide the customers of all levels, entry to advance, with free access to its continually-growing handpan tutorials and new handpan purchase options. We price our Generation 4s, what the internet deems "the most affordable entry level handpan", at the most affordable price on the market for its quality.
Tuning
Our Generation 4s are available in the Kurd, Amara, Pygmy, Sabye, Hijaz, Equinox, and Pentatonic Major scales, all in the key of D3. For help with deciding on which scale is for you, we've elaborated on each here. Aspects
You will notice when compare to all other models, despite their more favorable price, that our Generation 4 Handpans have a particular finesse and intonation when playing quietly. The Generation 4 Handpans are ideal for any quieter setting that requires a little more delicacy or gentleness yet without losing the beauty of the instrument's sound. They may not be the best for projection but are ideal for smaller get-togethers. Powder-Coated Handpans
Our powder-coated handpans are heat-fused onto the handpan in what would typically be considered an added layer of protection in other metal industries but in the case of our handpans is purely for aesthetic purposes, opening up a whole new range of colorful handpans to choose from - particularly for our entry-level and most affordable models, the Generation 4s. The powder-coating does not adversely affect the sound in any way and if anything, adds an additional layer of protection against the elements - just checkout Ethereal in E's many colored-handpans-in-water (our powder-coated Generation 4 handpans!) videos to see what we mean! Powder-coating is different to Hydro-dipped-coating whose colors and designs are little more complex and which we reserve only for our Generation 7 models here.

Extras
All Generation 4 Handpans come with their own soft cases. The option to add a hardcase (extra protection for traveling with your handpan) is available for an extra $100, a $99 discount from when they are sold separately here. All Generation 4 handpans come with a Gu hole (for resonance) and are made of nitrided steel (which simply means you need to avoid getting your handpan wet and if you do then to make sure you wipe down handpan with oil - we recommend something organic). Note that all handpans come with a black protective rubber belt (even if images may show other colors) which serves as an additional protector and sealer for the handpan.

All handpans are produced, shipped, and delivered within 1-3 weeks while shipping is free worldwide (it should be marked as $0 for shipping at checkout.
